Tree of Light Planning Underway

BRIDGEPORT—Planning is underway for the 17th Annual Tree of Light remembrance Ceremony slated for the evening of December 6 in a dozen Fairfield and New Haven county communities. The event, sponsored by Visiting Nurse Services of Connecticut, features simultaneous ceremonies in each community to provide the opportunity for local residents to commemorate the memories of loved ones who have died. Again this year, the candlelight event will have a special focus on the families of service people who have lost their lives defending our country in Agfhanistan and Iraq. Participants may purchase a light for their community tree in memory of their loved ones, with the proceeds going to support VNS’ Hospice at Home™ Program. The nondenominational ceremonies will be held in Fairfield, Southport, Bridgeport, Stratford, Milford, Shelton/Huntington, Westport, Easton, Monroe, Southbury, Trumbull and Oxford on December 6 at 6:30 p.m. For more information or to volunteer time to work on the event, contact VNS Development Director Brinda Pola at 203.366.3821 ext 1098.
