BRIDGEPORT—Visiting Nurse Services of Connecticut, one of
the largest home care providers in the state, celebrated its 98th
birthday October 9 during the agency’s annual meeting held
at the Courtyard by Marriott in Shelton. Some 125 employees, board
members, volunteers and community leaders from Fairfield, New Haven
and Litchfield counties where the agency has offices, turned out
to celebrate the successes of the past year and honor staff members.
Thirty-seven VNS employees were honored for their service to the
agency, eight retirees were recognized and the chairman of VNS of
Connecticut’s Board of Directors, Robert Rodia, announced
the two winners of the agency’s Chairman’s Awards. Chairman’s
Award winners are nominated by their agency peers for their adherence
to VNS’ HEART values, encompassing Humor, Excellence, Attitude,
Respect and Teamwork. This year’s Chairman Awards winners
were occupational therapist Stephanie Mastino and Registered Nurse
Cynthia Rizzardi.
