2011 Clambake Draws Record Crowd

BRIDGEPORT—A record-setting crowd of 150 agency staff, volunteers, board members and community supporters filled the Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield June 8th to vie for over-flowing raffle baskets, bid on over 35 silent auction items and enjoy sumptuous seafood or steak dinners, all to raise funds to support VNS’ Medically Underserved and Hospice at Home™ programs. Thanks to the generosity of event sponsors, basket and auction contributors, and Clambake attendees, the agency was able raise over $33,000, an increase over the previous year’s results. The 2011 Clambake was co-chaired by Trumbull’s Karen Mercer and Milford’s Patty Merola, with an assist from a support committee of agency staff members and community representatives. The co-chairs, VNS Development Director Charity Poth, VNS President Bill Sullivan and agency board chair Bob Rodia spoke to the gathering and announced the raffle prize winners following dinners featuring boiled lobster, salmon and prime rib entrees.
